Telephony is how your agents make and receive phone calls. Before your agent can pick up or dial a phone, you need phone lines. These come from a **telephony provider** (for example, Exotel or Twilio), which supplies the phone numbers and carries the calls. You can connect a provider account you already have, or rent one or more numbers directly from Sarvam. Open **Deploy → Phone Numbers**. ![The Phone Numbers page for a Sarvam Vobiz connection, with Total/Active/Archived summary cards and a table of phone numbers.](/_fern-img/12ebc68866612aadd1853a14b6eace22cab0463f459ae1544d0ce6b4e5c6b8b4.webp) ## How telephony fits together Everything builds up from a connection: | Building block | What it is | | -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Connection** | The link between Sarvam and a telephony provider. This is what actually carries your calls. You set it up once. | | **Number** | A phone number that lives under a connection — the number people dial, or the one your agent dials from. | | **Group** | An optional bundle of numbers you can assign together instead of one at a time. | Once you have numbers, you decide how they're used: **[Inbounds](/voice-agents/deploy/inbounds)** to answer incoming calls, or **[Campaigns](/voice-agents/deploy/campaigns)** to dial out to a list. ## Two ways to connect #### [Bring Your Own Telephony](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/bring-your-own) Already have an Exotel, Twilio, Smartflo, Pulse, Intalk, or Vobiz account? Connect it to Sarvam and use your existing numbers. #### [Rent from Sarvam](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/rent-from-sarvam) No provider account needed. Rent numbers directly inside Voice Agents, Sarvam handles the telephony for you. > **Tip** > > Not sure which to pick? If you don't already run a telephony provider, **Rent from Sarvam** is the fastest way to get a working number. Choose **Bring Your Own** if you already have provider accounts and numbers you want to reuse. ## Guides #### [Manage Phone Numbers](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/manage-numbers) Assign numbers to agents, reassign, or release. #### [Groups](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/groups) Bundle numbers so calls spread across them, callers see a local number, and you can swap numbers in and out easily. ## Quick reference | I want to… | Go to | | ------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Connect my Exotel account | [Exotel setup](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/exotel) | | Connect my Twilio account | [Twilio setup](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/twilio) | | Connect my Smartflo account | [Smartflo setup](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/smartflo) | | Connect my Pulse account | [Pulse setup](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/pulse) | | Connect my Intalk account | [Intalk setup](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/intalk) | | Connect my own Vobiz account | [Vobiz setup](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/vobiz) | | Get numbers without a provider | [Rent from Sarvam](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/rent-from-sarvam) | | Manage my numbers | [Manage Phone Numbers](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/manage-numbers) | | Receive incoming calls | [Inbounds](/voice-agents/deploy/inbounds) | | Dial an audience | [Campaigns](/voice-agents/deploy/campaigns) | | Bundle numbers for a campaign | [Groups](/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/groups) | > Set up phone calling for Sarvam Voice Agents: how connections, numbers, and groups fit together, and whether to bring your own provider or rent numbers. ## Docs - [Bring Your Own Telephony](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/bring-your-own.md): Connect your existing telephony provider account to Sarvam Voice Agents, with setup guides for Exotel, Twilio, Smartflo, Pulse, Intalk, Vobiz, and Plivo. - [Exotel](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/exotel.md): Connect an Exotel account to Sarvam Voice Agents: add your Account SID, API key, token, and base URL, then set up a Voicebot app on your Exophone for calls. - [Twilio](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/twilio.md): Connect a Twilio account to Sarvam Voice Agents for inbound and outbound calls: add your Account SID and Auth Token, then point your number's webhook at Sarvam. - [Smartflo](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/smartflo.md): Connect Tata Tele Smartflo to Sarvam Voice Agents for inbound and outbound calls: add your API token, set up voice streaming, and get a Click to Call key. - [Pulse](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/pulse.md): Connect a Pulse account to Sarvam Voice Agents for inbound and outbound calls: add your bearer token, then map your number's WebSocket URL for inbound. - [Intalk](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/intalk.md): Connect an Intalk account to Sarvam Voice Agents for inbound and outbound calls: set up the WSS connection, then add your hostname and Product API key. - [Vobiz](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/vobiz.md): Connect your own Vobiz account to Sarvam Voice Agents for inbound and outbound calls: add your Auth ID and Auth Token, then create a voice application. - [Plivo](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/plivo.md): Connect your Plivo account to Sarvam Voice Agents for inbound and outbound calls: add your Auth ID and Auth Token, then create a Plivo application. - [Rent from Sarvam](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/rent-from-sarvam.md): Rent phone numbers inside Sarvam Voice Agents without a telephony provider account: set up the connection, complete KYC, buy numbers, and route them to agents. - [Manage Phone Numbers](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/manage-numbers.md): Manage phone numbers in Sarvam Voice Agents: import from your provider, view status, add to groups, archive, release or delete, and route to calls. - [Groups](https://docs.sarvam.ai/voice-agents/deploy/telephony/groups.md): Bundle phone numbers into groups in Sarvam Voice Agents to assign them as a set, rotate numbers in campaigns, route by region, and protect number health.
