# Create a board

A board is a custom dashboard that your team returns to for the same reporting question. Create one when a query is worth keeping and sharing, rather than for a one-off analysis. Boards live under **Monitor → Boards**.

## Create a board

#### Open Boards

Go to **Monitor → Boards**.

#### Start a new board

Click **Create Board**, or **Get started** if the list is empty.

#### Name it clearly

Use a name that operators will recognize, for example `Campaign Overview` or `Hindi connect health`.

#### Create

Click **Create**. The new, empty board opens, ready for widgets.

From the boards list, you can also **Rename** or **Delete** a board.

> **Warning**
>
> Deleting a board permanently removes all of its widgets.

## Anatomy of a board

| Piece       | What it does                                                                                        |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Tabs**    | Pages inside the board. Add them via **Create → Tab**. Double-click to rename, and drag to reorder  |
| **Widgets** | Each one is a SQL query plus a chart or table. Drag by the title to move, and resize from the edges |
| **Filters** | Board-level parameters referenced in SQL as `{{filter_name}}`                                       |

### Header actions

| Action              | Purpose                               |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| **Filters**         | Open Configure Filters                |
| **Create → Widget** | Add a new widget on the active tab    |
| **Create → Tab**    | Add another page of widgets           |
| Alerts bell         | View configured alerts when any exist |

Each widget also has its own menu: **Refresh**, **Configure alerts**, **Download results**, **Duplicate**, and **Delete**.
