## Knowledge Base Metadata Fields

You can now define your own metadata fields on a knowledge base, such as department, year or document type, and fill in the values for each file as you upload it. Mark a field as required, limit it to a list of allowed values, or make it filterable, then change the definitions later from the **Fields** tab.
