# How to use native numerals

> Control whether translated numbers appear as international digits (0-9) or language-specific native numerals with use_native_numerals.

`use_native_numerals` controls how numbers appear in the translated document.

| Value            | Behavior                          |
| ---------------- | --------------------------------- |
| `null` (default) | Uses the application default      |
| `false`          | International numerals (0-9)      |
| `true`           | Language-specific native numerals |

### Example

For a Hindi translation of a sentence containing a phone number:

* **International** (`use_native_numerals: false`): `मेरा phone number है: 9840950950`
* **Native** (`use_native_numerals: true`): `मेरा phone number है: ९८४०९५०९५०`
